But then I’d have to switch on the lights
When the lights are on, I can feel my body start to melt
Every time that damn woman walks in she switches them on
I start screaming but she ignores me
I hide under my blanket
But it doesn’t help
I don’t get a window
I can hear sounds from outside through the wall
They get louder everyday
I hear soft footsteps
Then heavy ones soon after
I begged that damn woman for a flashlight or a candle
She told me to leave the lights on
She wants me to melt
I touch your picture
I try to feel your face
It’s hard to drink the water here
It scratches my throat
I’m breathing slower
It feels like there’s chunks in the air
I hear fast footsteps
They’re getting too loud
